What makes us different

What makes Carbon12 different is that we aren't just a design company. The following are just a few examples of how we can help you:

• Consulting. We can help you figure out exactly what it is you need from the web, and how to best go about getting it.
• Design. Of course your web presence won't be complete without looking the part. We are also closely affiliated with other designers should you wish to explore your options and have us take care of the rest.
• Animation and Interactivity. Want to include a flash animation? How about a little game to entertain visitors? Or maybe just an interactive menu system. Make your site come alive.
• Programming. We can write the programs to make the internet do what YOU want it to.
• Hosting and all the other 'yucky' bits. Being well experienced, and having close ties with a very powerful and well priced hosting company, we can have you up and running without you having to do a thing.

What exactly IS a dynamic web site?

To better answer this question, I'll start by explaining what isn't. Most web sites you see on the internet are static. What this means is that they never change. And if they do change, it means a designer has had to change it by hand, costing you more. It can be easily likened to a book. Once it's published, that's it. And unless someone prints a new edition, it's never going to change.

Dynamic however is what computers are all about. A dynamic web site doesn't merely display the same information to everybody. Instead it can offer customized information based on what it is your visitor wants to see. Google is a perfect example of this. If Google were static, when you visited, you would be presented with a list of some 8 Billion web sites. Instead, Google is a program that displays just things matching what you are looking for.

This is what Carbon12 is all about. For example the Flowmeter Trial Site which you can read more about on the Portfolio page. This site needs to cater for a potential 100+ flowmeter's, and instead of simply displaying ALL of that information in one static page that would need to be updated daily, the program firstly collects the data from the flowmeter's automatically, then allows visitors to sign in to their authorized page, select their flowmeter, select the time frame, and the are presented with exactly what they want.
